A Message from the Superintendent

“Every Student, Every Day, Every Classroom”

February 6, 2018

Dear Granite Falls School Community,

I encourage you to please read over the levy information (provided) as you consider the two measures that were placed on the ballots for this February 13th Special Election. The two issues being considered by voters are: (1) Replacement School Programs and Operation Levy and (2) Replacement Technology and School Improvements Levy. The information provided and the information on the district website will provide you with more details on what the levies are, how much the levies will cost, and examples of how the money will be spent.

The levies are not a new tax. The district is not asking for more money.  The school levies replace or “continue” the current levies that expire this December 31st, 2018.  The Board’s goal was to support existing programs and activities without increasing the taxpayers cost.  It continues to be a difficult time for the community to come up with money for schools, so by leaving the total amount that the district collects the same, we can minimize the impact on the taxpayer while maintaining the operations of the school district.

The levy dollars represent 21 percent of our daily operating budget.  Unless the voters approve these levies to continue the expiring ones, these funds will no longer be available for the schools.

More information is also on our website at www.gfalls.wednet.edu.  If you have any questions regarding the levy issues, please do not hesitate to give us a call!

Ballots must be postmarked on or before February 13th. Please mail your ballot today or drop off your ballot at the Granite Falls Library drop box location!

Thank you for your continued support and involvement in education.

Sincerely,

Linda R. Hall
Superintendent
